A Redmi flagship phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor is in the works, Redmi chief Lu Weibing had confirmed in February. No further details were shared though. Speculation has been rife that the Redmi flagship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 will have a pop-up selfie camera after a supposed render of the phone in question was spotted on Weibo – Weibing has now laid all speculations to rest by confirming the phone won’t have a pop-up selfie cam. Turns out, the render was fake after all.

Weibing is keeping his cards close to the chest – the Redmi chief is still not saying much about the upcoming Redmi flagship or even a tentative timeline of launch.

Redmi has long been known for its affordable devices. That seems to be the case still, only now, the company is looking to do a Poco as an independent sub-brand of Xiaomi. This means, even though the new-age Redmi phones will be very aggressively priced, they will be home to the latest and greatest of specs. The Redmi Note 7 Pro is a classic example. The upcoming flagship phone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 could take things to an all new level.

The Redmi Note 7/Redmi Note 7 Pro was the first phone to launch under Xiaomi’s new Redmi sub brand. The company recently took to social media to announce that it had shipped 40 lakh Redmi Note 7-series phones globally. The Redmi Note 7-series is available in different versions globally including in India and since Xiaomi made note of the 48MP camera on social media, even the Redmi Note 7 Pro (that is sold in India) could be part of the success.

Xiaomi sells a different Redmi Note 7 in India – in comparison to China. It sells a different Redmi Note 7 in India as well.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro India version comes with a gradient design and a 6.3-inch 1080p+ display with a teardrop/waterdrop style notch. It has two key highlights - the Redmi Note 7 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor and it has a 48MP rear camera with Sony’s IMX586 image sensor.
